Add your school to the map!
The National Outdoor Learning Initiative supports schools and districts around the country in their efforts to hold classes and programs safely and equitably onsite during the pandemic, using outdoor spaces as strategic, cost-effective solutions to increase access to abundant fresh air. Going outdoors helps PK-12 schools and districts reduce virus transmission and add an additional layer of protection for their school communities. The Initiative seeks to improve learning, mental and physical health, and happiness for children and adults, during the pandemic and beyond.

Many schools and districts have successfully implemented outdoor learning during the pandemic, and moved some or all of their classes, programs, and/or meals outside during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. If your PK-12 school or district was part of this international movement during the pandemic, we would love to hear about your experience, and include you on the map we are creating! (See: https://www.greenschoolyards.org/field-reports)

Please this form to tell us more about your school or district's outdoor activities during the pandemic, and to provide links to 1-3 online resources that document this work.

If you are working with multiple schools and would like to share information for each one, please fill out this form separately for each school. If the your school district had/has a district-wide program, we would love to recognize that with its own listing (and links) on the map, along with any schools that participated.

LINKS:  We'd love to see your work in action and to share it on the map!
To be included on the map, we require each school or district to provide at least one public link that illustrates their outdoor classes, programs, or meals during the 2020-21 or 2021-22 school year, and highlights their use of outdoor spaces to respond to the pandemic. The link(s) can be from a related published news story, the school/district's webpage if there is a page specifically about outdoor programming during the pandemic, or a public social media post for the school/district that shows outdoor classes, programs or meals in action.

Our goal is to support the map with links that provide clear documentation of the school or district's efforts. These links should ideally include a brief written description and photos or videos of children engaged outdoors as described. You are welcome to share a total of 1-3 links. We will include at least one link with each school/district on the map.

Please share at least one of these types of links about your school/district's work below:

Please share any LINKS to news coverage about your outdoor activities, including articles, photos, or videos created by an outside organization.
Please share any LINKS to specific pages of your school or district website that describe the outdoor activities during the pandemic.
Please share any LINKS to specific, public social media posts from your school or district's main account (or staff accounts) that describe and illustrate the outdoor activities during the pandemic.
