The National Outdoor Learning Initiative supports schools and districts around the country in their efforts to hold classes and programs safely and equitably onsite during the pandemic, using outdoor spaces as strategic, cost-effective solutions to increase access to abundant fresh air. Going outdoors helps PK-12 schools and districts reduce virus transmission and add an additional layer of protection for their school communities. The Initiative seeks to improve learning, mental and physical health, and happiness for children and adults, during the pandemic and beyond.
Many schools and districts have successfully implemented outdoor learning during the pandemic, and moved some or all of their classes, programs, and/or meals outside during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 school years. If your PK-12 school or district was part of this international movement during the pandemic, we would love to hear about your experience, and include you on the map we are creating! (See:

Please this form to tell us more about your school or district's outdoor activities during the pandemic, and to provide links to 1-3 online resources that document this work.
If you are working with multiple schools and would like to share information for each one, please fill out this form separately for each school. If the your school district had/has a district-wide program, we would love to recognize that with its own listing (and links) on the map, along with any schools that participated.
