NVHS STEP Application 2022
Narara Valley High School will be offering a Student Targeted Enrichment Program (STEP) for Year 7, 2022 students as part of its commitment to the education of its Gifted and Talented students. STEP is taught as an enriched learning class over four years, year 7 to 10, with the option of accelerated learning in year 9 and year 10.

With the initial GATS and Accelerated classes having graduated with outstanding results, our experience is now building on the research undertaken when first introducing this program to Narara Valley High School. Our ongoing evaluation of the program and analysis of data collected, supports the research that states that engaging with an enriched curriculum has long-term beneficial effects on the students involved. We can proudly refer to successful alumni who are currently engaging in academic, international and highly respected professional arenas.
This program is designed for academically advanced students who desire the challenge of working consistently at their ability level within the framework of a comprehensive high school. The class will be taught by specialist staff, and students are presented with opportunities to complete their secondary education in a unique and individualised environment according to their strengths and abilities.

We will hold a selection test at Narara Valley High School on Thursday 25th March between 9am to 12pm. The selection process is subject to the DEC and school enrolment policy. Our overall aim is to provide a secure, peer-supported environment with specialised teaching, programming and curriculum that will allow all selected students to progress at their true ability level.
As part of our commitment to our community we will continue to absorb the bulk of the cost for the testing. In 2021 the cost of administering the tests is $76 per student, and we are requesting a $10 administration cost to help us maintain the quality of the testing. You will be provided with a test analysis when the results have been finalised. Payment can be made in cash to the school office or online via our school website https://nararavaly-h.schools.nsw.gov.au/, click on the "make a payment" tab and use "STEP test" and the child's name as a reference.
It would be appreciated if the application form and $10 administration cost are returned by Wednesday 17th March, to ensure that there are sufficient tests on the day. Students are required to bring recess, water bottle, black pen, lead pencil and eraser. COVID safe practices will be followed.
