I'm Lindsay Frankenfeld, your course instructor. I'm so glad you joined, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you over the next 6 weeks. I'll share more information in the Onboarding and Introduction Lesson that opens on Sunday, but wanted to give you an overview and timeline to help you plan.

Please read the course information, timeline, and CEU/Grad credit sections, then complete the self-assessment questions below.

This course is based on the SD Department of Education’s Guide to Inspiring Partnerships Between Home and Schools (“Toolkit”), along with some supplemental references from the SD Statewide Family Engagement Center’s collection of evidence-based resources. The course is organized by the same five sections as the DOE Toolkit, which are:

Section 1: GETTING STARTED
Section 2: PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Section 3: SCHOOL-WIDE PRACTICES
Section 4: COMMUNICATION
Section 5: LEARNING PRACTICES - BRINGING IT HOME

Here is a timeline for the course:

March 1 - Onboarding and Introduction
March 8 - deadline to complete this Pre-Course Self-Assessment Form (see questions below)
March 8 - deadline to complete Onboarding and Introduction
April 12 -  suggested deadline for all course requirements to be completed (if you need more time, just send me an email)

While the rest of the course is entirely self-paced, I'd like to ask that you complete the Onboarding and Introduction Section this first week, by March 8, so I can be sure to answer any questions right away, and so you can plan for the rest of the course.
