Team Descriptions
Curation: A TEDxIndianaUniversity curator recruits the most innovative and dynamic speakers for our annual TEDx event and coaches them through the process of curating their talk. The team begins speaker outreach in the fall and then focuses on supporting the selected speakers as they brainstorm, write, and rehearse their talks.
Production: Production focuses on maintaining the integrity of TEDx branding guidelines while executing creative products—digital graphics, photography, and stage design—to promote organization events. Members will take on projects throughout the year on a need-by-need basis according to their experience and interests. Prior knowledge of design and editing softwares (Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Procreate, etc.) is recommended but not required.
Marketing: The TEDx Marketing team serves as the face of the organization and is responsible for all the promotional efforts of the organization, on campus and in the larger Bloomington community. The day to day activities consist of (but are not limited to) managing the social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and LinkedIn) and website, distributing promotional materials like flyers and stickers, engaging in promotional activities like tabling and class talks, creating partnerships with individuals and organizations on and off-campus, email marketing, etc.
Operations: Operations is in essence the oil that keeps the TEDx machine running. Our team ensures that things get done, and enable dreams and ideas to be realized. Tasks include lots of collaboration with other teams and members to coordinate logistics for team events, salons, and the annual conference.
Membership: Membership focuses on the team unity and cohesiveness within TEDxIndianaUniversity by maintaining team spirits with team activities. We establish our success by organizing, maintaining, and strengthening connections established among both the IU and Bloomington communities.
Finance: Finance holds the role of connecting TEDxIndianaUniversity to the larger communities of IU and Bloomington. Aside from maintaining ledgers and formulating budgets, finance members will also have the opportunity to create and lead funding pitches in order to get the money that allows TEDxIndianaUniversity to run.
Engagement: Engagement runs one of the most important functions of TEDxIU - spreading knowledge of our org throughout the school by way of fun events and stimulating discussions! The goal of our team is to develop connections with other people and other communities on campus - we're looking for passionate do-ers who enjoy connecting with people to join our team!
