SBNC Nationals Internship Application
Hello!

Please fill out this application if you are interested in applying to be a part of the SBNC National's Internship Program. We are looking for people from a wide array of backgrounds and experiences. The time commitment includes attending a bi-weekly meeting and volunteering around 1-5 hours a week minimum on projects.

SBNC is a growing national organization focused on bringing our vision that "higher education should be accessible to all" to life. We work to achieve this by facilitating the development of grassroots campus chapters and statewide coalitions across the country that work to make higher education work for everyone. We are only a few months old and already have chapters growing in over ten states! You can read more about our organization at www.studentbasicneeds.com

There are four areas our interns can focus on: Research, State Coalitions, Administration, and Communications/Social Media.

The spring internship is projected to run from January 17th-May 2nd, 2022

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
For Spring 2022 Cohort- Please submit this application by January 3rd, 2022.

Descriptions of Intern Departments:

National Research Interns:
-Weekly assignments involving research memos, research presentations, and various other micro-research needs by other departments in SBNC.
-Weekly expectation of collecting contacts at institutions to be used for outreach to grow our chapter base.
-A large final research project you will present to the SBNC board members and fellow interns on a topic we advocate for.
-Weekly intern check ins

National Social Media/Communications Interns:

-Provide day to day social media monitoring support; assist with building online presence through ongoing interactions with followers.
-Provide proofreading and editing.
-Assist with the development and implementation of marketing campaigns to maximize interaction  
Experience with Canva or other graphic platforms is a plus b ut not required

State Coalition Interns:

SBNC State Coalitions are designed to empower students in creating legislation that aims to address the basic needs issues students within their state are facing. This is accomplished by empowering students to craft legislation and lobby legislators to support solutions to address these complex issues. Additionally, coalitions work with organizations within their campuses and communities to adequately advocate and address these issues. Coalitions are headed by a State Chair who has a team of two directors for Organizing and Social Media / Marketing.

For Social Media Interns:

Will assist state chairs and directors in developing marketing strategies. They will be responsible for content planning for the state coalition as well as organizing sponsored posts.

Platforms to have a working knowledge of: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tiktok. Canva is our primary way of creating content and an understanding of this would be a great bonus!

For Organizing Interns:

Will assist state chairs and directors in developing organizing strategies to help grow the coalition’s connections and networking capabilities.

Interns should be able to be well versed in proper email etiquette and have the ability to help create working relationships that can help the coalition reach its overall organizational goals.
This would be a great opportunity for an individual who is looking to get into Public Administration or Governmental Affairs work.

National Administrative Intern:
-Assist the Executive Director of SBNC Nationals with:
        - Completing Executive Projects and Drafting Memos
        - scheduling meetings
- taking notes in meetings with the executive board or other stakeholders
