CLACKAMAS WEB ACADEMY: A PREVIEW
To ensure all students and families understand how Clackamas Web Academy works, we offer the following description. Signatures at the bottom of this document signify an understanding of this
material.

Who we are:

Clackamas Web Academy (CWA) is a free public Charter School sponsored by the North Clackamas School District and accredited by Cognia. CWA provides instruction to students in Oregon through an innovative combination of online curriculum, onsite classes, labs, tutoring, activities and access to college classes. We have approximately 550 students enrolled in grades K through 12 and an Early College Options (ECO) program

Student expectations: Students must...

Be motivated and capable of working independently,
Commit to working approximately 5 to 6 hours per day on their assigned curriculum, Ensure that computer equipment loaned to them is properly protected and maintained, Submit only their own work,
Communicate with their advisors daily via phone, online system, email, or other means, and Observe school policies and rules.

Parent/guardian expectations: Families must...

Monitor daily schoolwork and proper computer usage, Help the student to track his/her progress, Encourage the use of a quiet study environment,
Arrange for a high-speed internet connection--at their own expense,
Be available to actively participate in advisor meetings held every other week, Communicate promptly with staff should questions or concerns arise, Reimburse the school for repairs or replacement of technology loaned to the student, Ensure the computer has antivirus software installed and in good working order, and Learn how to protect students from online threats.

Staff expectations:

Students are assigned a faculty member who meets with them approximately once every other week. These meetings will often involve checking progress, providing academic guidance, tutoring, communicating program information, and answering questions. Faculty are also expected to be available throughout the day by cell phone, email and electronic messaging. Staff will respond to inquiries typically within 24 hours during the school week.
We have reviewed CLACKAMAS WEB ACADEMY: A PREVIEW and agree to meet the above expectations. *
