The Carmi-White County Unit #5 School District has established a transition team to begin planning for the 20-21 school year, with plans to begin school in August as scheduled. The health and well-being of our students, families and staff is of utmost importance. The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released a guidance document that would allow for face-to-face learning for all public and private schools in Illinois, with specific requirements in place. These include the following:

* Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); including face coverings
* Prohibit more than 50 individuals from gathering in one space
* Social distancing observed, as much as possible
* The school conducts symptom screenings and temperature checks or individuals self-certify that they are free of symptoms before entering school buildings
* Increase in school-wide cleaning and disinfecting

The guidelines are subject to change.

C-WC plans to offer face-to-face instruction this fall. Though in-person instruction is highly encouraged, we understand that many parents have concerns about face-to-face learning and the above guidelines. Therefore, the C-WC transition team is seeking your input regarding your child’s education and the possibility of offering a remote learning option in the place of face-to-face instruction for those who choose. In order for this to be an option for parents, we need your input to plan accordingly.  

Please note that remote learning in the fall would be different than remote learning this past spring. In an effort to more closely mirror the instruction that is happening in the classroom daily, remote learning in the future will be more rigorous, time consuming, and assignments will be graded.

Therefore, please complete this survey by July 8th!

 Please keep in mind that the district is also preparing for a return to totally remote instruction in the event of a resurgence of the virus or a second wave of it during the upcoming school year.
