Volunteers during 2023 LD4 Conference
This form is for volunteers who can commit to helping out in various ways during the 2023 LD4 Conference. We appreciate any help you can offer in order to contribute to the success of the conference.

We have opportunities for volunteers to assist in multiple ways. You can volunteer to help with multiple sessions and/or in multiple positions. All we ask is that, if you sign up to help, that you are committed to assisting in the role(s) you sign up for:

  • Monitor the #get-help Slack channel and provide assistance : This consists of keeping your Slack client open and pointing people in the right direction or answering questions people might have about the conference (where is the Zoom link, where is the schedule, I thought I registered, etc.). You won't be expected to know all of the answers and you will have others to assist with questions you can't answer.
  • Host Zoom sessions through your institutional accounts : This consists of using your institutional Zoom account to schedule a session. You will pass hosting duties to the session facilitator.

  • Facilitate conference sessions by introducing presenters and guiding Q&As : This consists of clicking to activate the live stream, introducing the session and session speakers, keeping the session within time and being the point of contact for logistical questions about the session. (Basic facilitation duties)

  • Zoom chat moderation during sessions : This consists of monitoring the Zoom chat to gather questions for the speakers and to manage other logistical questions that come up in the chat. You will work with the session facilitator and session speakers to determine the best method of managing questions for the session.

  • Usher participants to and from sessions and Slack (announcement center) : This consists of a town-crier type position where you will help with announcing upcoming sessions, conference logistics, and other announcement type duties.

  • Promote and support conference accessibility : This consists of helping with questions about accessibility relating to the conference platforms.

All volunteers will receive training, documentation, and support. Please join us in collaborating to make this community-led event a wonderful experience!
