The Apprentice Program, organized and presented by the Thomasville History Center will be a school-year long introduction and immersion into the world of museums and public history. Apprentices will complete a capstone project in the second semester in an area of museum work. Apprentices will meet at the Thomasville History Center twice a month and experience excursions to local historic and cultural organizations to learn about their operations. Apprentices will meet for seminars on the evenings of the first Tuesday of the month and will meet for seminars and/or excursions on the third Saturdays of the month. Additional volunteer hours may be fulfilled on the students schedule during operating hours of the History Center. The Thomasville History Center seeks to foster the curiosity of teen learners and help them on their journey relating to the history of Thomas County. The History Center will help Apprentices to develop and master transferable skills that will serve them in their current and future educational careers and beyond. The program is presented free of charge and we do not expect for you or theApprentices to incur any costs in relation to this program. Should that situation arise, we will do our best to develop fundraising opportunities to ensure that all Apprentices may participate no matter their financial situation.
