If your child uses the EANI school transport buses that collect inside the school grounds 
you can ignore this survey.

This is NOT an official form from Strabane Academy School. This survey is being made by concerned parents. We are trying to get an idea of the number of students within the 3 mile area of the school (and who therefore do not qualify for the EANI school transport buses that collect inside the school grounds but instead), who have to use the public Translink bus services outside the school gates at home-time but cannot get a direct bus that goes up the Melmount Road.

Presently there is a public Translink bus from outside the school gates at 3:30pm that will leave students to Abercorn Square in the town centre – then, students that live Melmount Road area, have two options, they can take the possibly 40 minutes walk home, or they wait at the bus stop for 40 minutes for the next Melmount bus, so as to reach for example areas like the to top end of Ballycoleman, Beldoo, Five Acres, Greeves Park etc., as well as near Orchard Road and Fir Trees.

For young students in the dark of winter and/or bad weather, this can be problematic. Not to mention the time wasted that could be used for homework etc.

Perhaps your Strabane Academy child has been affected by this. Perhaps presently, they have to walk home after school or you have to organise a lift or taxi for them because there is no Melmount bus. If so, please fill out the form below and we can provide this information to Translink in an effort to encourage them to provide a bus that travels up the Melmount road from Strabane Academy school. To be clear; This is not a petition. Only parents affected should fill this out and only fill it out ONCE. We cannot guarantee any movement from Translink. We simply need to gather clear data so it can be presented to them in the hopes that it can help families living in that area. Also; It is not a free school bus. You pay student fares like any normal public bus.
