General Ways to Volunteer

General Event Help: We always need help at our major events, like the Consumer Medical Symposium, FallFest our Annual Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk, our Annual Golf Tournament, and many other events. This can range from assisting at the registration table, helping with set up and clean up, or really anything that you would like to do to help us during any event of your choosing.

Joining A Committee or Task Force

Maine Advisory Council: When the Hemophilia Alliance of Maine (HAM) decided to become part of NEHA in 2023, HAM's Board of Directors requested that NEHA create a Maine Advisory Council to maintain and elevate voices from Maine's community. Beginning in 2024, the council will meet to set the course for the group and start making recommendations for how we can engage the community and continue the work HAM has been doing for the past decade. We are eager to engage Maine members from across the state, with a range of bleeding disorders, and experiences in the community.

Development/Fundraising: Our Development Committee works to maintain sufficient revenue to fund our programs and services, increase non-industry support, and grow our membership. The Development Committee takes a lead in our fundraising events like the Walk, Golf Tournament, Red Tie Soiree, and more.

Programming: NEHA’s educational programming is at the heart of our mission. Programming volunteers serve on a different planning committees and take the lead with behind-the-scenes activities like volunteer coordination, youth track planning, schedule planning, rap session coordination, and more.

Advocacy: Volunteers can serve as the point of contact for their community and for their state as "State Leads." They take part in one conference call per month to help monitor legislation that is working through their state. NEBDBAC’s Advocacy Coordinator will guide you every step of the way.

Board of Directors: This important group of volunteers are responsible for the financial oversight and governance of the organization. We regularly accept applications to join the Board among qualified, dedicated people inside and outside of our community who wish to be part of our leadership team.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Task Force: NEHA's DEI Task Force was created to ensure that the core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion are reflected in all NEHA policies, practices, and programs. We are seeking members to serve on the Task Force to develop recommendations for NEHA regarding policies and programs that promote DEI to the bleeding disorders community and ensure a safe space, serve as a resource to staff, and empower volunteer leaders from diverse backgrounds within the NEHA community and help foster a more inclusive NEHA culture.

Hosting An Event

Organizing and Hosting a Community Driven Event: These events are organized and hosted by a volunteer and are intended to provide another opportunity for people to gather throughout the region. Examples include: dinner outing for moms, brewery tour for dads, etc. Learn more here.

Organizing and Hosting a Community Driven Fundraiser: No matter what fundraiser you want to host to benefit NEHA, we want to help make it a success! Some examples of community-driven fundraisers include: Yard Sales, Golf Tournaments, Bake Sales, Horseshoe Tournaments, and more. Learn more here.
