Do you know of a youth who is curious about or interested in government? Consider nominating them for the Kenosha County Youth In Governance (YIG) program. We are now accepting nominations for the 2023-2024 program year.

Youth In Governance is an opportunity where students can contribute their voice to community issues and develop their confidence, independence, leadership skills, and civic knowledge while serving on one of seven County Board committees for an entire year.  

The requirements to participate in Youth In Governance are:
• Sophomore or junior at the time of application;
• GPA of 2.5 or greater on a 4.0 scale;
• Kenosha County resident;
• Must be able to attend the monthly meetings of their committee
• Must attend at least one Kenosha County Board meeting during their term
• Must participate in the YIG Bus Tour held the last Wednesday in June
• Must be able to attend additional committee meetings that are combined with other committees

To nominate a youth for this program, please fill out the form below.  Please ensure that the mailing address and e-mail address are correct. The deadline to nominate is Friday, February 24th at 11:59 p.m., 2023.

Youth who are nominated will receive an application in the mail (and email) from the Kenosha County Board on immediately and the application will be due back to the Extension Kenosha County office by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th, 2023. From there, youth will be selected for an interview which will take place during the last two weeks of March.
