Welcome to the 2020 France Brain Bee (FBB), open to students in grades 9-12 (3ème-Terminale). The competition is in English.
We will have more details on the timing of the 21 March event in the coming weeks, but plan to be there most of the day.
STUDY GUIDE: The study guide for 2020 France Brain Bee is: Brain Facts: A Primer on the Brain and Nervous System, (Revised 2018 edition) published by the Society for Neuroscience. It is available for free and downloadable at:
https://www.brainfacts.org/the-brain-facts-book. We are only using chapters 1-15! Brainfacts.org has supplemental written and video material as well as 3D of the brain to help prepare for the brain bee. (

Brain Facts (2018 edition) is also on
francebrainbee.org along with useful videos on brain neuroanatomy and tutorials. Please focus only on Chapters 1-15. Visit
francebrainbee.org to stay on top of any updates and and modifications as registration opens and deadlines pass. Also, read tips on How to Prepare, Study Tips, Past Brain Bee competitions.
COMPETITION: Space is limited: please sign up early. If there are a large number of students per school, we may need you to have a selection process to choose the top 3 or 4 students who qualify for the 2020 France Brain Bee. We can provide quizzes to facilitate the process.
France Brain Bee teaches about our most powerful computing machine - the brain. Students learn about such topics as brain cognition and function, the senses, diseases, physiology, genetics, and neural cell biology. The competition will have four components: a short written exam, neuroanatomy identification table, patient diagnosis and a live question and answer stage.
The winner of the France Brain Bee will qualify to participate in the 2020 International Brain Bee (IBB) World Championship, in Washington, DC early August. The winner's flight and hotel expenses will be part of their prize, along with 1st place trophy and a one-week internship at ICM. Trophies will be given to 2nd and 3rd place winners. All finalists will receive certificates and t-shirts.
Some schools have started Brain Bee or Neuroscience Clubs meeting regularly to review chapters and make friends. If your school or teacher does not know about the France Brain Bee and you want to sign up, please email
francebrainbee@gmail.com and we will try to help. You can also request a member of our organizing team from France Brain Bee or ICM to visit your school to explain the competition to students. Remember, in the beginning starting small is better than starting big, so you don’t need a large number of students to make this happen at your school.
With your participation and enthusiasm, we look forward to making history together and helping this competition take root in France!
