Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded The Pastoral Center a $1.25 million grant as part of its Christian Parenting and Caregiving Initiative. With this financial support, The Pastoral Center is launching the Growing Up Catholic Community Initiative to support Catholic parish leaders to coach young parents and caregivers to share their faith and values with their children. The grant will fund a cohort parish program and family catechesis leadership training, serving English- and Spanish-speaking communities. The cohort pilot program will run for a period of three years beginning in 2025, empowering parishes to adopt family catechesis. For each year of the program, we will identify 50-60 parishes grouped into 5 diocesan/regional cohorts with diversity in size, ethnicity, rural-urban location, and socio-economic range. We will provide training, resource grants, and ongoing support. We expect to open the applications process in mid-2024.
