Ever since the NYC Department of Transportation (DoT) made Clinton Street an on-ramp to the Williamsburg Bridge, the traffic in the neighborhood has become horrific, bordering on deadly. The powers-that-be, including both elected and non-elected officials, have mostly turned a deaf ear to our concerns. We need to get organized to put pressure when and where we can to eliminate the LES traffic jam crisis!
We have formed the Traffic Working Group (TWG), organizing to fight for our right to a safer, quieter neighborhood and a better quality of life. We have about 45 participants from the neighborhood right now, but we need more! Join us to become part of the solution and to advocate for some sane solutions.
If you are aggravated with the traffic situation, sign up below. Most of the information is optional, but we need your name and email address to contact you about actions; the more ways you give us to contact you, the more ways we can organize efficiently.
Also, there is a section with various advocacy activities listed; we need people to check off at least one activity because these are different ways by which we can pressure government and elected officials who can fix some of the problems. Some of these activities will require only five minutes a week. The plan is to pick either a specific official and issue weekly and bombard them with communications.
