Social Media & Photography Team Covenant
Thank you for your interest/commitment to serving as a social media or photography team member at Keystone! You will play a vital role in providing quality content, creating a welcoming digital atmosphere, creating supportive content for Keystone attenders, encouragement and spiritual influence to all, and opportunity for conversation for everyone. Being a SM&P team member can be a joyful and fulfilling experience, but it also carries great responsibility.
Keystone Church operates under biblical authority and we recognize the Bible as the ultimate source for truth and wisdom. It is important to say that we believe that God loves all people and His grace is offered to everyone, regardless of his or her current lifestyle and choices. The criteria listed below are specifically laid out in the Scriptures as qualifications for those in positions of leadership and/or influence, not to point out a category of people that God does not love or offer His grace. This understanding is vital in order to see the parameters rightly.
Employees and volunteers in positions of spiritual influence are expected to recognize biblical teachings in regards to lifestyle choices and are expected to:
Be faithful to their spouse in marriage or chaste in singleness.
Exodus 20:14; Matthew 5:27-28; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 13:4
Provide for the emotional, mental, physical and spiritual needs of their own family.
1 Timothy 5:8, Luke 11:11-13; Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:21
Be generous and willing to share.
Deuteronomy 15:7-8; Psalm 41:1-3; Proverbs 11:24-25; Proverbs 19:17; Matthew 10:42; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Refrain from the excessive use of alcohol and abstain from the use of illegal drugs.
1 Corinthians 6:12; 1 Timothy 3:3
Although the prevailing cultural views and values regarding sexual expression, orientation and gender identity are changing, as a ministry and a church that remains committed to the scriptures and the doctrines of the Wesleyan Church we would ask that the individuals participating in the following lifestyles seek a non-leadership place of service within the church:
Those cohabiting with someone of the opposite sex outside of marriage
Those participating in a homosexual relationship
Those who identify as transgender
Genesis 2:24; Malachi 2:13-15; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Ephesians 5:25-32; Deuteronomy 5:18; Leviticus 18; Romans 1:24-32; 1 Timothy 1:9-10
Social Media & Photography Team Guidelines
Purpose of Guidelines
This policy provides parameters in order to guide church staff, team members, employees, volunteers, and church leaders when social media tools are used on behalf of Keystone Church or when Keystone becomes part of a social media dialogue.
Social Media Tips
Be selective! There are a variety of digital platforms available. Use the right medium for the message. For example, don’t use a Facebook post to communicate sensitive or private information.
Be smart! A blog, community post, or social media post is often visible to the entire public and can/will be shared by others in various ways that cannot be controlled at any level. Be extremely wise with all content posted.
Use grace! Always use Biblical wisdom when utilizing social media. For example, if someone has offended you, speak with them privately on the matter. Do not post offense responses publicly.
Ask us! In areas where this policy does not provide a direct answer for how members of our community should answer social media questions, please check with Keystone Church’s social media coordinator, or the Lead/Associate Pastors before speaking as a representative of the church.
Use of Social Media
All of Keystone’s policies, including harassment, confidentiality, and software use apply in the extensive use of social media.
Team members who misuse Keystone's social media resources in ways that violate the law or other ministry policies will be asked to volunteer elsewhere.
Guidelines
Employees/volunteers who are interested in representing Keystone Church must first sign a consent and application document, as well as attend an individual social media training.
Social media postings should never disclose sensitive or confidential information unless written/email consent is obtained to share said information from the individual it concerns. This includes but is not limited to personal and/or medical information.
Please refrain from posting photos of individuals or identifying those individuals on Keystone Church’s social media pages without their written consent prior to posting. Verbal consent is sufficient if the individual is not being identified. Written consent can be submitted by texting “photo” to 734-944-5397 and completing the digital form. The members of the social media team are responsible for disabling the "tagging" feature of photos posted on the ministry's page. If the photos reference a location, that information must be deleted as well.
Copyright and Fair Use Laws must be respected at all times. Feel free to point or link to another individual's site, not post or blog about it like it is your own content.
If any posted material concerning Keystone Church seems to be illegal (e.g. child or elder abuse, etc.) team members should contact church leadership and the appropriate authorities immediately.
When communicating with youth via social media, team members must adhere to Keystone Church’s youth communication policy. Additionally, employees and volunteers serving in the children and youth ministries must keep their professional image in mind at all times. Online conduct, comments, behavior, etc. affects this image.
Team members and employees are solely responsible for the content they publish online, including content from their own social media pages. It must be absolutely clear that all views/posts do not reflect Keystone Church, but are reflective of themselves.
When in doubt, be positive! Whether someone has posted something mean, rude or distasteful, take the high road at all times.
In the event of a crisis, contact church leadership prior to responding to any posting or comments relating to the crisis.
Public Relations Guidelines
Church communications may not be used for partisan political messages or paid advertising.
Keystone Church has designated one or two main employees to facilitate all external communication channels on behalf of the Church. Only authorized employees such as the Pastor(s), Communications Staff and Departmental Directors may coordinate communications with members of the media on behalf of Keystone Church.
Always use Keystone Church’s official name and logo. These branding items must be approved prior to official use.
Where Do These Guidelines Apply?
This policy applies to all online and mobile platforms for sharing content and information, whether hosted by Keystone Church or hosted by others. "Social media" refers to social networking services, short-message services, message boards, wikis, podcasts, image/video sharing sites and other methods for sharing real time information among users. Due to the ever-changing speed of social media, this policy applies to all new social media platforms, whether or not they are mentioned. All social media platforms are relevant and included.
Social Media & Photography Team Commitment
What we need you to DO is meaningful for our ministry, but WHO you are in Christ is even more important. Your spiritual growth and health is just as important to God as the spiritual growth of the people to whom you are ministering. That means we are making a commitment to you just as much as you are making a commitment to us. We want to ensure you are trained, equipped, resourced, encouraged, and supported so that you can lead as best as possible.
We commit to communicate our expectations clearly, provide you the necessary training and tools to do what we have asked, provide opportunities for you to give us feedback on your experience, and do all we can to make sure you grow as you serve.
Here are some commitments we ask of you:
1. Please make every effort to attend all training and development events offered. They are for your benefit and encouragement! If you are unable to attend, all materials or a recording will be available for you to review at your earliest convenience.
2. We ask that you schedule your serving time, each role has either a set or a flexible schedule. We ask that you plan that time into your week/month regularly, your commitment can make all the difference in someone’s life.
3. If you are unable to fulfill your role on a Sunday or at an event you are scheduled for (due to illness or schedule conflict) please contact the social media coordinator to let them know as soon as possible. Never feel you need to show up when ill.
4. We highly recommend participation in a community group at Keystone Church along with serving.
5. As difficult theological questions or issues arise online, please feel free to contact the social media coordinator or one of the pastors for help. We don’t expect you to be a Biblical expert—that’s what we have pastors for—so don’t hesitate to give them a call or text.
