The NASW Education Committee is again sponsoring its annual mentoring program during the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting, Feb. 8-11, and we are inviting practicing science writers to volunteer as mentors. We will pair mentors with graduate and undergraduate students who have demonstrated a serious interest in science writing.
If you would like to help, please complete the form below and we will assign a student to you. Please let us know as soon as possible.
Mentors and students will attend a virtual orientation session, 1-2 p.m. Eastern, Friday, Feb. 5. If you can't make that meeting, it’s okay to contact your student in advance and arrange when to meet.
Students will have the option of writing a news article based on a AAAS session of their choice, and mentors have the option of serving as editors for their students' stories. Stories will be published in the NASW Student Newsroom. Mentors and mentees have flexibility in deciding what the discussion priorities are during their time together.
Many former mentees now regularly volunteer as mentors because they found the program so inspiring. Please help NASW continue this valuable tradition.
We aim to pair mentors and students who have similar areas of interest, but matches may not be exact.
We will let you know which student you have been paired with before the event.
Thank you,
Czerne Reid & Ashley Yeager
