Application Form for Student Employment in Biology Spring 2024
A Teaching Associate (TA) is the instructor of writ for a lab, i.e., the person who is responsible for teaching the lab, posting the grades, etc.
A Graduate Assistant (GA) assists an instructor, e.g., helps set up and break down the lab, drives a van on a field trip, grades papers, helps students when the instructor is also present, or tutor students.
An Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) are typically undergraduate students who assist an instructor similar to the Graduate Assistant above.  ISAs are also hired as tutors or Peer Learning Facilitators who help other students understand their course material. ISAs are hired hourly.

Instructions:
1. This application is for current (and accepted) graduate students in the MS Program of the Department of Biology at CSUN. Some positions, such as Peer Learning Facilitator, and Instructional Student Assistant are also available to senior undergraduate students.
2. You must be an enrolled graduate or undergraduate student during the semester of employment. Graduate students must be in enrolled in courses or in AR 601 Culminating Experience.
3. Use proper capitalization when filling out this form (i.e. do not use ALL CAPS. Capitalize the first letter of street names, cities, your name etc).

A background check (including a criminal records check) for new employees must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

You are not officially offered a position until you receive a letter of appointment signed by the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics. Any promise of a position by staff or faculty should be interpreted as a recommendation only.
