NHCS - Secondary Attendance Options
Dear RGMS Parent or Guardian,

I hope this letter finds you well. It has been a challenging first semester and we appreciate all of the hard work that has been put in by teachers, school staff, students and parents. As we move forward into the second semester, we need to redefine our processes so that we can better support our students. Beginning Jan 4th, students will need to be assigned to one of 3 options:

AA/BB - In this option, students will need to attend school in person on their assigned AA (Monday, Tuesday) or BB (Thursday, Friday) day. All students are expected to attend all online sessions on their non in-person days. Attendance will be taken Monday through Friday based on attendance in students’ in-person classes and their online Zoom classes. Students not attending their in-person classes or their scheduled Zoom classes will be marked absent.  Students should plan to attend the entire class period and the entire Zoom period.  Students with individualized education plans, 504 accommodation plans, English learners in their first two years in US schools and students who have been identified by their principal as needing additional support (9th-12th) will be allowed to attend 4 days a week for in-person learning.   In certain situations, students may be required to report to campus for required state testing.

Remote - In this option, students will need to attend all of their classes Monday through Friday online via Zoom. Students not attending scheduled Zoom classes will be marked absent.  Students should plan to attend the entire class period via Zoom. In certain situations, students may be required to report to campus for required state testing.

Virtual Academy - In this option, students will take classes asynchronously via Edgenuity and/or via teacher-made coursework. A teacher will be assigned to monitor student progress.   Daily attendance and logins to each class are expected and those not logging in will be counted absent if the student does not login and complete work. Some elective classes may not be available in this option. Coursework will need to be completed by May 17, 2021.  In certain situations, students may be required to report to campus for required state testing.

Once an option has been chosen, that option will not be available to be changed until the end of the third grading period, which ends on March 4, 2021.
