English, Social Studies (Global Studies), and Bible Plus are the same for all 8th grade students.

The others courses are different from person to person.  On this form, you will make requests for those courses.

CP vs HONORS COURSES
Students need 26.5 Upper School course credits in order to graduate from Oakbrook.  We call them units.  Students in the 8th grade have the opportunity to take three courses for credit.

There are three levels for Upper School courses:

CP (College Preparatory): These courses are designed to fulfill the requirements to earn a high school diploma and prepare students for college.

Honors: These courses are designed to be academically challenging and preparation for advanced
placement courses.

AP (Advanced Placement): These courses are designed to be academically challenging and are taught on the college level.
*8th graders are not eligible to take these courses.

Note: A prerequisite is a course that you need to have taken BEFORE taking the course you are requesting.

After your requests are made, your teachers will approve (or deny) your requests, based on their best recommendation for you.

Below you will make your choices for electives. At this time, do not consider whether or not you would like an elective for a semester or maybe for two, just select your electives based on which you want as first choice, second choice, etc.

A Note About Electives:
All elective courses may not be offered to all grades (based on interest and staff availability).   Courses have size limitations; students may not be assigned to a course that has reached its maximum capacity.
