CAPA iTeach Club is an organization of high school volunteers with the goal of helping others. The club was established in 2018. Since then, we have volunteered year-round at local senior centers, helping seniors solve their technical problems with electronic devices, and holding English classes for seniors on site. After the pandemic began, we have adjusted our services to teaching English and IT classes for seniors and other immigrants online.

Registration closes on Wednesday 8/25.

We are recruiting for the following positions:

1. Teaching team member (online)
    1) Must be a high school student;
    2) Be able to speak, read, and write English and Mandarin Chinese;
    3) Contribute 1.5 hours each week;
    4) Responsibilities include reviewing teaching materials before class, teaching one 1-hour online class every weekend, monitoring the class's WeChat group, answering seniors' questions in the group chat, etc.

2. Teaching team member (in-person)
    1) Must be a high school student;
    2) Be able to speak, read, and write English and Mandarin Chinese;
    3) Contribute 1.5 hours each week;
    4) Responsibilities include reviewing teaching materials before class, teaching one 1-hour on-site class every weekend, monitoring the class's WeChat group, answering seniors' questions in the group chat, etc.

3. Editing team member
    1) Must be a high school student;
    2) Be able to speak, read, and write English and Mandarin Chinese;
    3) Contribute 1 hour each week;
    4) Responsibilities include creating the slides for one lesson each month, getting approval for your lesson topic from your team leader before starting, submitting assignments on time, updating your slides based on your team leader's feedback, etc.

4. IT Support member (in-person only)
    1) Must be a high school student;
    2) Be able to speak, read, and write English and Mandarin Chinese;
    3) Contribute 2 hours each week;
    4) Responsibilities include answering seniors' question about their electronic devices, helping seniors fix problems with their devices, teaching seniors how to perform basic functions on their devices (using Google Translate, making an email account, checking the weather, etc.), etc.

To sign up to volunteer with iTeach Club, please complete the following 3 steps by August 115, 2021. Any missing steps may result in the loss of volunteer opportunities.

2. Have a parent/guardian manually sign the WAIVER OF LIABILITY STATEMENT below, then scan and email it to iteach.capa@gmail.com.

3. Have both the volunteer and parent/guardian manually sign the VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT, then scan and email it to iteach.capa@gmail.com.

Please note that iTeach Club is an organization under CAPA-MC (Chinese American Parent Association of Montgomery County). CAPA requires the parents of the volunteer(s) to be members of CAPA. Please pay the membership fee ($30 every two years) to CAPA at its website (https://www.capamc.org/). Thank you!
