Sign-up for Byte-sized RSE Season 2 Episode 1: How long will it take? Software task duration estimation
Byte-sized RSE is BACK!

This is the sign-up form for the 1st Byte-sized RSE session in our second season which will cover software task duration estimation. The event will be hosted online via Zoom on Tuesday 7th November 2023, 13:00-14:00 GMT (UTC). The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants shortly before the session.

This session will look at that challenging question that many software developers or researchers will be familiar with being asked: "How long will it take?"!

It's also the question most, if not every, software engineer dreads.
Often, it feels like asking: "how long is a piece of string?"

And yet, estimating time and effort (and money) is a task that all of us face in our engineering career sooner or later. Whether we're working on a research application or a commercial product.

Luckily, there are some common techniques and practices we can use to help us to give reasonable estimates and avoid common pitfalls.

In this session, we'll be looking at some of them and you'll have the opportunity try out one or two in a practical exercise.

Session prerequisites

There are no technical prerequisites for this session and all are welcome.
