CENTRAL VERMONT COMMUNITY RADIO PROGRAMMER APPLICATION
Thanks for your interest in having a show on 91.1 FM WGDR, Plainfield and 91.7 FM WGDH, Hardwick.

Our Programming Committee reviews applications about twice a year. If approved, show training takes about 4-8 weeks per show, depending on prior radio experience.

Application update as of 1/9/24: We just trained a new batch of folks for January, 2024 and they have helped us fill up 80% of our schedule with locally made shows. This means there are now limited local slots for new programmers, mostly late nights, a handful of slots during middays on weekdays, and early mornings. Folks rotate off doing shows here and there, so we will start a "waiting list" for new programmers if a slot doesn't align with your schedule. We also encourage interested new programmers to join us as show subs or be involved in the station in other ways. This will move you "up the waiting" list when a slot that works for you opens up.

We have also shifted to focus on new shows in 2024 that are locally made by folks here in our listening area/Vermont. Shows must either be live at our studio (no experience required) or made remote, weekly. To do a remote show, you must have prior audio or radio experience. If you have questions, drop Llu@WGDR.org an email.

If this all is agreeable to you, go ahead and apply, we'll keep your application on file until the next round.

Application Overview
This application is meant to introduce yourself to us and give us a general idea of what content you want to produce on the air with us. All shows must align with our CVCR mission and no prior radio making experience is necessary to do a show. Please note, show day/time availability is impacted by our current schedule. We have a finite amount of space in our schedule, but invite any and all to apply from our listening area of Central Vermont and the Northeast Kingdom. No prior experience is required. If you were previously a programmer and left on good terms with the station, you can apply as well.

It will take you about 10-15 minutes to complete and has 4 short sections. You can see the full application here.

If you have questions or need help with the application such as translation, to have it given verbally, or provided through any other accommodations, contact Station Manager, Llu Mulvaney-Stanak at Llu@WGDR.org or by phone/text at: (802) 276-0365You can also print the PDF version of this whole app and fill out by hand and mail it back to us. Info on the PDF. If you are unable to fill this application out online or print it to send in, contact us and we can mail you one.

After you submit your app, we will be in touch as part of the application process about openings and appropriate next steps.

Demographic Info
Central Vermont Community Radio fosters a culture of diversity in programming and content, governance, management, practices, and policies. We aim to bring together people of diverse backgrounds through the power of radio, on the air and for listeners.

At both our stations we embrace equity, inclusion and diversity as powerful elements that make our station better. As such, the CVCR board, staff, programmers, and volunteers aim to be reflective of our diverse community.

One way we do this is to ensure equitable representation of social identities on the air with our programmers.

It is optional for you to share your social identities (race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other social identity that is core to your lived experience) with us and it does not effect your show app. We will keep all info shared private.

The more applicants who share their identities with us assists us in meeting our commitment to diversifying who is on the air and part of our station.

Are you over 18?
We absolutely want teens on the air, but it may require some additional planning. Don't sweat it, we will get into that in training.
