ACCEPTABLE USE OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ( To be completed by students in grades 4-8.)

Background: The Father’s House Christian School employs complex Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in carrying out its instructional and administrative functions. The appropriate use of ICT in the instructional process can significantly enhance learning outcomes, and ICT contributes substantially to the efficient management of the resources necessary to support the educational objectives. In order to ensure that this technology is reliable and used responsibly, all users must adhere to an acceptable standard of ICT use. This standard is to apply the use of ICT resources that are the property of The Father’s House Christian School or the use of privately owned devices used on School premises and/or during school-sponsored activities in an efficient and responsible manner.

Definitions: Hardware is a computer and the associated physical equipment directly involved in the performance of data-processing or communications functions. This includes, but is not limited to system board, disk drives, keyboard, monitor, printer, digital camera, memory devices, etc. Software is the instructions executed by a computer, as opposed to the physical device on which they run.
Information and Communication Technology includes but is not limited to: Computer Systems: both hardware and software, Data and Voice Networks, telephones, mobile devices, memory devices, video technology, digital media, Interactive White Boards, video projectors, and any other digital technology.

Procedures:
1.Everyone who may have occasion to interact with the ICT of the School will abide by The Father’s House Church/The Father’s House Christian School procedures for acceptable ICT use.
2.At the beginning of each school year the Superintendent/Principal will distribute the Acceptable Use Agreement to students in Grades 4 to 9 and the ICT Rules and Etiquette to students and as information to legal guardians. The accompanying "Agreement to Comply" form must be signed by students.
3.Staff Agreement to Comply must be signed upon employment by staff who wish to gain access to the School’s ICT. Copies of the student's signed agreement will be kept on file at the school office and transferred with the student if they move to another school. Copies of the staff member's signed agreement will be kept in his/her personnel file at The Father’s House church.
4.Failure to sign and return the "Agreement to Comply" may adversely affect an individual's ability to succeed at assignments and tasks given to him or her. The School/Church and its personnel assume no responsibility or obligation in this event with the exception of providing access to computers for the writing of provincial exams or tests.

The Superintendent/Principal may adapt this Administrative Procedure to their individual needs provided the basic principles of the Administrative Procedure are maintained.

I have read and understood and will abide by The Father’s House Christian School’s "Acceptable Use of Information and Communication Technology Agreement" (attached). Specifically, a teacher and my parent/guardian have discussed with me, each of the points on back of this page. I further understand that any violation of the regulations above is unethical and may constitute a criminal offence. Should I commit any violation;

1.My access privileges may be revoked; and
2.School disciplinary action and/or appropriate legal action may be taken.

I understand that this agreement applies to both School and Church owned as well as user owned equipment and resources. I have been instructed in the principles of acceptable ICT use and etiquette and understand the conditions for accessing the ICT of The Father’s House Christian School. I recognize that my signature is binding.

*Parents/Guardians of dependent K-12 students must also read and sign this agreement.
As the parent or guardian of this student, I have read and understood The Fathers House Christian School "Acceptable Use of Information and Communication Technology Agreement" (attached) and have discussed with this student each of the points. I have discussed the "Student Agreement to Comply" with the student. I understand that this access is designed for educational purposes. I recognize that The Fathers House Christian School does not employ technology to restrict access to inappropriate content. Therefore, I hold harmless and waive responsibility to The Fathers House Christian School for materials acquired through, or content accessed on the network. Further, I accept full responsibility for supervision of the student if and when his/her access of Board ICT resources is not in a school setting.
