Do you currently work in the construction sector or interested in working in construction?
Are you currently studying a construction or built environment-related course in the North East?
Energy Democracy Project and the North of Tyne Combined Authority are running a series of paid online workshops to discuss how we support the creation of 'green', low-carbon jobs in the sector.
We are particularly interested to hear from those with experience or an interest in decarbonisation, retrofit and learning other ‘green’ skills.
The workshops are about discussing what barriers currently stop students and workers from finding out more about sustainable construction, learning new low-carbon, 'green' construction skills or up-skilling to a new role.

Workshop details
- The workshop will last 90 minutes and will take place online via Zoom.
- Participants will be paid £30 for their attendance.
- Workshops will be participant-led, with small group discussions following the “World Café model”. This involves informal conversations where participants explore an issue or question in small groups with the help of a discussion host.
- It will be possible to join anonymously with your camera off, if you wish.
The workshop will be based around four keys themes/areas:
1) Sustainability: What are the current barriers and opportunities for the construction industry to adopt sustainable low-carbon practices and the sector to reach net zero?
2) Skills and Knowledge: What training, skills development and knowledge do we need to support a successful and sustainable construction sector?
3) Construction as a Career: How do we attract new entrants and grow new talent in the industry?
4) Government Support: What can the Combined Authority do now, and in the future, to support the construction sector to be inclusive, sustainable and thrive in the region?
Please complete this form to register your interest in attending a workshop. We hope you will join us so that we can help build a better future for those who work in construction.
