2. Isabelle Giraudou, Ph.D / ジロドウ イザベル
Associate Professor, Organization for Programs on Environmental Sciences (OPES)

Isabelle GIRAUDOU is an associate professor at the University of Tokyo. She is affiliated with the Organisation for Programs on Environmental Sciences. After a doctorate in International Law (University of Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas) and a post-doctorate in Comparative Environmental Law (University of Tokyo), she taught at different universities in Japan. Between 2008 and 2012, she was a research fellow at the French Research Institute on Japan (Maison franco-japonaise, Tokyo) established by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and associated with the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). Her work builds on Law and the Anthropocene as an emergent field of study. Her current research scrutinises how practicing lawyers can address the many legal disruptions caused by a continuously rising risk of more frequent and higher-impact climate change-induced extreme events in Japan. Drawing on perspectives from critical legal theory, relational approaches to law, ecological philosophy, and theories of spatiotemporality, this project seeks to illuminate how legal reasoning and techniques can articulate alternative narratives and imaginaries, at the interface of Earth system science and planetary social thought.

イザベル・ジロドゥは東京大学准教授。主な研究テーマは、「法と人新世」。最近の研究プロジェクトでは、気候変動法と災害法の融合分野が、人新世の思考実験にどのように関わるかを探求している。
