2024 American Legion Auxiliary, Mahomet Unit #1015 Scholarship
Criteria
The American Legion Auxiliary was established in 1919 to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve.  The mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, and mentor youth while promoting patriotism, good citizenship and security.  The Auxiliary believes that the more knowledge our young people gain, the better citizens they become.

Eligibility: Mahomet-Seymour graduating seniors who are enrolled in post-secondary schools (University, Junior College, Vocational school).  You must have a relative who is serving or who has served in the United States military. The relative may be a parent, sibling, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or 1st cousin.

Fiscal Parameters:  The scholarship awarded shall be $500.00 for use by the recipient to pay for expenses related to their initial year of education following their graduation from Mahomet-Seymour High School. The financial amount of the scholarship will be awarded directly to the recipient’s educational institution once the recipient has provided the MSEF with their Student Identification number, name and address of the school.

The recipient should receive the award based on their high school academic performance (at least a C average), involvement in extracurricular activities, and community service as detailed.

The American Legion Auxiliary, Mahomet Unit #1015 Scholarship is facilitated through the Mahomet-Seymour Education Foundation (MSEF). The MSEF has made significant contributions to education since 1994. Our creed, Excellence in Education, is our commitment to enhancing our children’s education by providing them challenging and enriching opportunities.

The MSEF promotes academic excellence by awarding Junior High School students the Luke Busch H.E.A.R.T. Award every quarter, awarding students from Lincoln Trail and High School the Student of the Month Award, and partnering with the M-S Secondary Schools PTO to honor high school students with academic letters. Additionally each year, several college scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors.
