Course Description: This 60 hour course consists of high-quality, comprehensive training in structured, multisensory language instruction. The course contains curricular components designed to transfer to 1:1 teaching. It focuses on the multisensory principles of teaching, as well as current research-based language instruction designed to integrate reading with spelling and writing. The class content includes phonological awareness, the history and structure of the English language, phonology, syllable types and division patterns, introduction to morphology, spelling generalizations, and the neurological underpinnings of dyslexia. Trainees further gain practice interpreting testing and planning/delivering individualized diagnostic and prescriptive lessons.
