We are excited to announce that we will be accepting proposals for this year’s state suicide prevention conference, held over two half-day online sessions! The conference will consist of a live/pre-recorded afternoon session on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 and the morning of Thursday, September 2, 2021, with re-broadcasts available each evening.
In seeking breakout sessions, the committee welcomes presentations on topics related to all aspects of suicide prevention (i.e., means safety, NSSI, connectedness, upstream interventions, vulnerable populations (LGBTQ, etc.), cultural competence, substance use, bullying, nonsuicidal self-injury, trauma) and ask that all presenters consider how they will incorporate the theme (Back to the Future: Finding Hope & Resilience Post Pandemic) into their proposed session. The committee seeks proposals from a variety of perspectives (i.e., lived experiences, coalition members, suicide prevention trainers, loss survivors, public health professionals, researchers) at varying levels of experience (i.e., beginner through advanced).
Breakout sessions should provide approximately 45 minutes of content to be pre-recorded. Following the breakout session time-block in the conference will be a 45 minute panel discussion and time for Q&A with a representative from each breakout session. We will share more logistics and provide support for each facilitator once the schedule and sessions have been selected.
