Doorstep Youth Theatre (DYT) is a company for young people aged 14 – 20 who aspire to be professional theatre makers. This term we will be exploring themes relating to our partnership with incredible actor, composer and musician John Pfumojena who is touring his production to Torbay in June and wants DYT to be part of it. John’s invitation is for Torbay to engage with his culture whilst sharing its own, contributing to a final performance.

In the audition, local dance artist Clare Parker, will facilitate a movement workshop for DYT scored by a music track created by John. If successful in the audition, you will then be invited to performances at Torre Abbey on 15 or 16 June 2022 (times and details TBC).

We are also thrilled to have other industry professionals sharing their practice in some of the DYT sessions throughout the summer term – these workshops will cover physical theatre and developing your own work after leaving youth theatre.

Entry to our DYT group is based on audition-only, but you do not have to be a performer to be an ensemble member. DYT is open to musicians, dancers, technicians, designers, actors, directors and writers. We approach all projects with a complete team, and would really encourage those interested in behind-the-scenes roles to contact us.

You MUST PRE-BOOK to attend these auditions. Due to COVID health and safety, we are not able to accommodate drop-in sessions at this time, so you must complete the below form by Sunday 24th April at 5pm if you want to attend.  You do not need to prepare anything, just turn up in suitable clothing that you can move in and bring a drink with you.
