Healing Cycles of Harm Intro
The workshop will be lead by Reclaiming Our Own Transcendence (RooT) organization based out of CA. It is open to anyone that wants to understand relationships between intergenerational trauma, systemic/structural violence, interpersonal harm, and lived experience in the body. The workshop will move beyond "ideas and concepts," though it will include some, and introduce some basic practical strategies for creating capacity for the prevention of harm.

Our work is intersectional, so practices are responses to harm enacted in the context of both sexual violence as well as racial violence. It is intentionally accessible to folks new to any of this work. Many of the responses to racial tension have been focused on helping folks "think" our way out of violence and into healing. While analysis is helpful and provides some important foundation, we center the practices that help us understand why we sometimes act in ways that are not in alignment with our values, ethics, or beliefs. This element, I think, will add a new understanding of violence for those who are practiced in theoretical analysis. In other words, all who are interested in the work of healing - welcome.
