The differences in the American house

Hanging a flag in the US is common. In France we could see the French flag in gardens mostly when there were the terrorist attacks in 2015. Observing the American house I also noticed that the garage is in the front. French garages are ............... in the basement ........on the side of the house, not in front of it. *
