Girl Up, a girl-centered leadership development initiative of United Nations Foundation, is excited to host the 2024 WiSci South Asia Girls' STEAM Camp! Women in Science ("WiSci") Girls' STEAM Camps are an opportunity for high school/secondary school girls to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) subjects and develop leadership skills alongside their peers in a safe, supportive, cross-cultural environment.
From June 1 – June 9, 2024, the WiSci South Asia Girls' STEAM Camp will host 100 youth ages 15-17 from Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the United States. WiSci South Asia will be hosted in-person in Kochi, India. All selected campers and counselors are required to attend the entire duration of camp.
WiSci South Asia has been made possible thanks to public and private partnerships between Girl Up, the U.S. Department of State's Office of Global Partnerships, the U.S. Embassies in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Maldives, Caterpillar Foundation, Google and the TE Connectivity Foundation. Selected campers and counselors do not need to pay to participate because of the financial contributions of these partners. Partners will cover all camp housing accommodations, food, and travel support for campers and counselors.
