Biosafety in patient transport and management by first responders during COVID-19 pandemic
Introduction:

This study is being conducted as part of Task 4.6 "Improve Biosafety and Biosecurity" from work package 4 "Pandemic planning" of the PANDEM-2 project. This work package is coordinated by the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and Task 4.6 is coordinated by the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). The present study is executed by UCL with the help of their partners, ORK, ITRC, INEM, RUNMC and THL.

Aim:

The goal of this study is to improve and harmonize biosafety guidelines during cross-border response in the case of future pandemic. This questionnaire will help us to identify biosafety gaps and needs regarding patient transport with highly infectious disease. Experience with the COVID-19 pandemic will be used as a model.  
This questionnaire consists of three parts:
(1) Questions about biosafety guidelines themselves.
(2) Questions about medical vehicles, personal protective equipment and staff training.
(3) Questions about patient handling upon arrival at the hospital.

Target audience:

Medical emergencies services responsible for patient transport and management in european member states.

Data protection:

All information you provide will be anonymized. The legal bases for processing your personal data are: Survey: consent (GDPR Art. 6a) Research: the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (GDPR Art. 6e) Administrative: legitimate interests of the data controller (GDPR Art. 6f). You will not be identifiable in any report, publication, or talk about this study or its results.

Data Storage:

The raw data will be stored at the UCL in an internal institutional database with proper IT protection. Datas will  not be transferred outside the organizational structure. Your personal data will be retained for the lifetime of the project. After the research ends, it will be permanently and irrevocably deleted after a maximum of 3 years to comply with project auditing obligations.

This questionnaire will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Responses must be submitted by April 18th.
