Dear Colvin Run families,

Deadline: Friday, May 29th

As we start planning for next year, if you would like to provide input to be referenced during class placement, please complete this OPTIONAL survey regarding your child's learning environment by Friday, May 29th.  This form provides an opportunity for parents to provide input the school will reference as we position your child for continued academic success.  Class placements are decided using a myriad of factors, so it MAY NOT be possible to honor all below information.  By the end of the school year, your child's classroom teacher has worked hard to place your child into a class for next year and they will reference your input while completing class placements.

PLACEMENT PROCESS:  This is the opportunity for you to provide your parent input regarding your child as a learner.  Do not schedule a meeting with your child's classroom teacher to ask their feedback regarding what you should put down on this form.  Any information you provide will be edited for content and confidentiality, and then given to your child's classroom teacher to use.  Your child's teacher will use their knowledge of your child, along with any input you provide, to finalize class placements for the 2020-21 school year.  The classroom teacher knows your child best, with regards to what they need in the classroom, which is why their input is used as the primary source when finalizing the placements to keep the focus on the instructional environment.  As always, do tell us about any situation that we may not be aware of and that may affect our placement decisions.  All information will remain confidential.

REQUESTS: While we will take all requests into consideration, it MAY NOT be possible to honor every request.  While we do our best to make sure your child has some familiar faces in their classroom, class placements are based on a myriad of factors that are carefully considered each year with the focus on instruction and learning for all students.  Knowing the importance of your child's continued success at CRES, we will do our best to place your child in a learning environment that will foster their continued success for the 2020-2021 school year.  Please understand that it MAY NOT be possible to honor ALL of your requests, however we will do our best to honor as many as we can to help ensure ALL students are positioned for continued success.  When describing your child’s classroom environment, DO NOT include a specific classroom teacher’s name as staffing needs change each year and the teacher may not be at that specific grade level.  

PARENT/TEACHER RELATIONSHIPS: Parent/Teacher relationships are key to the success of students, so if you have an EXISTING relationship with a classroom teacher and would like to request that teacher, you may do so.  Know that this option is based on an EXISTING relationship with the teacher and MUST include a rationale.  (i.e. "teacher had my child's siblings in their homeroom class", "teacher worked with my child in the past").  We will verify that there is an existing relationship, or the request WILL NOT be honored.  As a reminder, this is a request only and not a guarantee of placement as there are a myriad of factors that go into class placement.  We know that siblings are often different and a match for a teacher for one sibling may not be the best match for another sibling, so your child WILL NOT be automatically placed with a specific teacher if one is not requested.  

You must fill out a separate form for each child.

After May 29th, we will start the process of preparing for 2020-21 and any additional requests may not be honored.  Please trust we will continue to provide the same care in placing your child for success, as we have always done in the past.

We will work to try and have your child placed with SOME of these students, however this is just one factor used during the placement process.  Their parent's and teacher's input are also used.  A rationale MUST be included or the request will not be considered.
(OPTIONAL): Type the Last Name of the Teacher with whom you have an EXISTING relationship and the reason behind the relationship.
This request is based on an EXISTING relationship only. Only the following instances will be considered: Teacher had student's siblings in their homeroom class, Teacher has tutored or worked with my child.  Type the teacher's last name AND the reason why relationship exists. A reason MUST be included or the request WILL NOT be considered.
