The Global Alliance for Tax Justice (GATJ) established the Tax and Gender Global Working Group to provide a space for members of the GATJ regions and partners to engage directly in the campaign and policy work of GATJ on tax and gender and to strengthen their global integration. The working group is a powerful collective fostering collaboration across women’s and tax justice movements advocating for socio-economic change. It is a vibrant platform through which representatives from all over the world share good practice, expertise, advocacy strategies and build each other’s capacity. The working group collaboratively advocates for global and national reform of regressive tax and fiscal policies and decision-making processes and the recognition and redistribution of unpaid care work that is currently disproportionately shouldered by women.
The GATJ tax and gender working group is inviting WROs, activists, trade unionists and CSOs interested to work on gender and tax justice to join our collective by subscribing to our listserv and attending our monthly calls on the first Thursday of each month. Membership also involves joint policy advocacy and campaigns. By joining the working group you reaffirm the commitment to collective mobilisation and advocacy for change and communication around the issue of tax justice for women’s rights, nationally, regionally and globally while, guided by the values of respect and appreciation of diversity, commitment to human rights of all women and girls and gender nonconforming people, without qualification; non-discrimination on any basis; solidarity with women and girls in their different realities and identities; and promotion of values that respect, protect and nurture the environment and empower women and girls.
In our work as an alliance, GATJ tax and gender working group commits to the following:
1. Promote a culture of solidarity, trust and respect.
2. Create a learning space where contributions are valued, questions are encouraged and self-reflection is fostered.
