Hello, 

I am Natalia Alvarez Collazo, an MA Social Work student from the University of York conducting a study on:


“Factors that affect the retention of Social Workers”


I am looking to interview social workers, who have been or are currently registered (including recent social work graduates), who are either working in social work or who have left the profession. I am seeking participants with a range of experience from recent graduates to senior workers. 


*******Filling out this form, means you are interested in partaking in a 30 to 60 minute interview. Interviews will be scheduled according to your availability. Interviews can be performed via telephone, online, or in person. Participation is entirely VOLUNTARY and gratefully received. 


*******Please note, completion of form does not guarantee an interview.  All participants must be over the age of 18. All information collected is confidential and will be anonymized.


Topics that will be covered:

  • Your view on the social work profession 

  • Factors that impacted your decision to leave the social work profession and/or the local authority 

  • Factors that influence your decision to stay within the profession and/or the local authority

  • The impact the current social political climate has on the social work profession

  • Experience within your identified race and gender and any dimensional impact it has made on your decision to remain within or to leave the social work profession and/or the local authority

  • Your views on the pros and cons of holding a permanent social work post or working for an agency

  • Careers social workers go into/would consider going into after leaving/if they left the profession
