The Fish Market is a mobile app for (re)connecting fishers to local consumers. Through the app, fishers can directly sell their catch to local consumers, increasing their revenue while contributing to food sovereignty, and consumers can connect with fishers, increasing their access to locally caught seafood while contributing to fisheries sustainability.

How does it work? A consumer can find fish harvesters near them through the app’s map interface. They can also learn more about them from their profile, such as their name, story, targeted species per season, and fishing gears used, and send a message through the chat, arranging prices, location for pick-up, and anything else, similar to an interaction you would have at an actual fish market!

The app prototype has been launched and will soon be shared with beta testers in NL who will be providing feedback for improvements into a fully operating version that will be widely advertised and distributed via Apple’s App Store and Google Play for both iOS and Android users.

This is where you come in! As a beta tester, you would be able to test out the prototype version of the app and let us know what works, what doesn't work, and what you would like to see different. We will then work towards incorporating those changes into the final version of the app. Please note that testing versions may be unstable.
