2021 LHS Marching Band Sign-Up Contract
Welcome to the Lincoln Patriot Marching Band!  Having a great band requires a strong commitment and dedication from both students and parents.  It is absolutely essential that we know exactly who will be with us next Fall!  In an effort to get exact numbers for our 2021 marching band, we are asking each member and their parents to electronically sign this contract - one contract per student.

Did you and a parent/guardian watch the mandatory Zoom Informational Meeting (March 22) regarding Marching Band? *

I  WILL  be in the Lincoln High School Marching Band for the 2021 Fall season.  Students (except Colorguard) must be registered for a band period to be a member of marching band. *

I  WILL  be at Spat Camp every day and I promise to stay the whole day for Spat Camp rehearsals (special circumstances need to be cleared with the directors). *

I  WILL have ALL of my marching  band music memorized by the first day of Spat Camp.  For brass and woodwinds, this includes all of the show music, the Star Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, the Warm-up Sheet, Ave Maria, and the LHS School Song.  Colorguard members will have choreography assigned by Julie Hadley to be completed prior to SPAT Camp. *

I  WILL cooperate with the Directors, staff, and student leaders throughout the season. *

I UNDERSTAND that the Band Directors reserve the right to make changes to my responsibilities if I don’t meet the baseline performance proficiency. *

I  PROMISE to attend all possible summer sectionals and will make them a priority in my summer schedule. *

I  WILL FULFILL  my financial responsibilities by participating in fundraising activities or by a personal donation.   ISA (Individual Student Account) dues for 2021 season: $750.  [Assistance is available for family financial challenges]  If we get approval to extend the St. Louis trip, I understand that there will be additional costs and that more info will be coming as soon as possible. *

I  WILL  be responsible for all uniform pieces issued to me.  I AGREE that I am financially responsible for any pieces damaged or not returned (Colorguard Members will purchase their own uniforms and get to keep them after the season). *

I WILL  be at all Fall Marching Band Performances and Competitions! *

As your directors, we try to do everything possible to accommodate other school-sponsored Fall activities in which you participate and many students in the past have been highly successful in both band and other activities.  The directors must approve, in advance, any rehearsals or performances that could be potentially missed due to these conflicts.  Please indicate below additional activities (if applicable) in which you are involved during the months of August, September and October: *
Many Fall activities are compatible with Marching Band but in some cases the conflicts are too many and we must ask you to choose between these conflicting activities. The following Fall activities require a schedule that is not compatible with our Marching Band schedule: Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Football, Varsity Soccer, and Varsity Softball.                                                                                 Do you acknowledge that you are choosing Marching Band instead of Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Football, Varsity Soccer, and Varsity Softball? *

I HAVE READ AND WILL AGREE TO THE ABOVE TERMS.  BY SIGNING BELOW, I AM AGREEING TO FULLY COMMIT TO ALL RESPONSIBILITIES INVOLVED IN BEING A MEMBER OF THE 2021 MARCHING BAND, FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON (NOW) UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON.  BY SIGNING BELOW, I PROMISE TO NOT DROP OUT OF THE ORGANIZATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNLESS  I AM PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO PERFORM, OR OTHER EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES ARISE THAT ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF MY OR MY PARENTS’ CONTROL. *

RULES FOR BAND TRIPS        1. Respect for and cooperation with all adults is expected and required.  2. Any Student involved with drugs, alcohol, tobacco, theft, or any other unlawful behavior will be disciplined in accordance with school policy.  3. Students are not to leave the band without prior notification.  4. On overnight trips, after curfew, all students will remain in their own rooms.  5. School policy states that boys and girls are not allowed to visit each other’s’ hotel rooms. Students of the opposite sex may visit in the hotel lobby or quietly in the hallway of the hotel if not bothering other hotel guests.  6. All rooms will be inspected by chaperones before check out. Students are liable for any theft or damage. 7. Parents/guardians are responsible for any medical expenses their student incurs on a band trip.  8. Students needing an epi pen or inhaler are required to carry it with them at all times – even during competitions!   IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, I GIVE THE CHAPERONES THE RIGHT TO ACT AS GUARDIAN FOR MY STUDENT AND RELEASE THE CHAPERONES, THE BANDPARENTS ASSOCIATION, AND THE SIOUX FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY THAT MIGHT RESULT FROM BANDTRIPS/ACTIVITIES DURING THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR. I have read the information above and understand the band trip rules. *
