2023-2024 Bus Information and Contract
The Madeleine Choir School seeks to ensure the health and safety of our students and drivers. This policy is to inform parents and students of their responsibilities and expectations when riding the bus.

You must arrive 5 to 10 minutes before pick up and drop off.  Please note that the pickup time is when the bus leaves the stop with riders and the drop off time is when the bus arrives at the stop with riders. Please arrive at the stop prior to the listed times to ensure timely loading, or unloading, of riders from the bus.

General Information
• Bus drivers, students, parents, teachers, and school administrators share the responsibility for bus safety, following all bus rules, and behaving in a responsible manner.

• Riding the school bus is a privilege. If you behave inappropriately, you will not be allowed to ride the bus

Consequences for not following bus protocols:
1. Verbal warning
2. Student will sign discipline log and be given an assigned seat
3. Referral / Call to parents / Assigned Seat
4. Bus suspension
5. Bus expulsion 

I agree to ride the bus safely. By...
1. Staying seated (seat to seat, back to back, with seat belt fastened) 
2. Keeping aisles free of backpacks, instruments, etc. 
3. At stops, remaining at designated area until bus comes to a complete stop 
4. NOT distracting the bus driver 
5.NOT putting any part of my body outside the window 
6. NOT pushing or shove others 
7. NOT leaving seat while bus is in motion

I agree to follow all bus rules and be responsible. By...
1. Keeping hands and feet to myself 
2. Not eating on the bus (Food/gum may not be eaten on the bus)  
3. Respecting bus property 
4. Sitting in assigned seats 
5. Being respectful of others and their property 
6. Using appropriate language and conversation 
7. NOT possessing weapons including laser pens 
8. NOT possessing alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs
9. NOT tampering with emergency door or equipment

I agree to treat the bus, the driver, and all passengers with respect.

2. Speaking and acting kindly to others 
3. NOT leaving trash, food, etc. on the bus 
4. NOT throwing, spit, kick, or hit 
5. NOT using foul language, teasing, threatening others, or using inappropriate gestures

If I choose not to follow this contract, I understand the following consequences may occur, or in the event of a serious offense, I may be suspended from the bus immediately:
  • My parent(s)/guardian will be notified by an administrator at my school and I will be warned about the consequences of not following the school bus rules.  I understand that other disciplinary measures may include a lunch detention, after school detention or other consequences as specified in the Parent/Student Handbook.
  • My parent(s)/guardian will be notified by an administrator and I may lose all bus privileges for 3 – 5 school days.
  • Severe Clause:  Students may be suspended immediately from the bus for severe infractions for a period of time to be determined by the school administrator.  A serious infraction, such as a weapon, drug or physical violence, may result in bus privileges being suspended immediately.  The student may be required to remain at school and law enforcement may be called.
NOTE:  If bus privileges are suspended, I must arrange my own transportation to and from school.  Additional referrals may result in removal from the bus for the remainder of the school year.
