Driveline Baseball is looking for a skilled Information Technology Operations / Help Desk Coordinator to join our team. Driveline Baseball secures contracts with multiple MLB teams year-round, providing external amateur draft reports, player development assistance, and on-site implementation of our physical products we manufacture and develop in-house. Driveline Baseball also trains hundreds of elite collegiate and professional hitters and pitchers in their three building complex in Kent, Wash. (20 minutes south of downtown Seattle).

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in applied information technology work, building gaming/web/file servers, doing basic web programming, setting up Raspberry Pi boards, configuring email servers, developing local area networks, configuring VPN servers, working at a help desk, and all sorts of broad technology experience. Candidates will not be judged based on their formal education background, or lack thereof; the ideal candidate for this position is a generalist with a lot of projects they undertook themselves.

Self-starters, initiative-takers, and those with a healthy skepticism of authority fit in well at Driveline Baseball.

We don't expect you to know everything when you start here. We expect you'll develop along the way, and we'll challenge you with new tasks all the time and provide you all the resources you need to learn (conferences, bootcamps, books, videos, online training courses, you name it). This is a junior/intermediate position where we'll invest in your development while you work here and build something to be proud of.

We also have a 25mm competition-level ping pong table and the staff plays regularly.

ONE LINE-SUMMARY: We need someone who can build our internal IT help desk, stand up / configure servers, write/debug basic code, meticulously document their work, assist with IT requests across the company, and script their way out of danger.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Setting up an official internal Driveline Help Desk for all IT-related requests, such as setting up new employees, debugging issues, fixing email problems, creating accounts for people on various services we use, and so forth.
-Keeping all of our Virtual Machines in line and monitoring our cloud servers.
-Purchase analysis on all internal server capacities on what to buy to expand our internal capabilities.
-Database server monitoring and analysis.
-Configuring local area and virtual private networks to ensure bug-free performance with our local and remote workers.
-Writing and debugging code of various flavors when equipment/connections go wrong to point our developers in the right direction.
-Strong documentation skills for all processes, products, and services we provide to third parties and internal business units.
-Regular communication with the R&D team, executives, and management.
-Taking initiative to expand these fields as you see fit – if it will improve the company, we’ll make the resources available to you.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Formal education: None required. High school dropouts to advanced degree holders will be seen as equals, which reflects the company’s structure as well.
-Intermediate to advanced level w/ IT operations + help desk work.
-Elite general technologist with a hacker mindset.
-Excellent “feel.” That mix of empathy, common sense and likability that makes people trust you.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Experience with R, Python, and PHP.
-Experience with WordPress deployments.
-Experience with Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows server management.
-Database management and architecture skills. You won't be required to manage billions of rows and have deep knowledge of sharding, but you will assist in basic/intermediate devops.
-Minor understanding of statistical modeling, quantitative analysis, and data science methods is a huge plus.
-A GitHub open source portfolio, complete with code and documentation of projects – failed and successful.
-Previous experience working in professional or collegiate sports in any capacity.
-Previous experience as an athlete in any collegiate or professional sport.
-Data visualization skills.
-Web development skills.
-Management skills – previous experience running a Help Desk is a huge plus.
-Technical writing skills.
-Highly engaged and accomplished gaming skills. High accomplishments in Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Magic: The Gathering, counting blackjack, chess, online/real life poker, or other games.
