Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) | Volunteer to expand SSMC'S Sustainability Ideas Bank
Sustainable San Mateo County (SSMC) is a nonprofit group that focuses on promoting sustainability policies and practices in San Mateo County. SSMC’s Sustainability Ideas Bank describes sustainability policy solutions that have already been implemented successfully at the local level, making it easier for cities and businesses to learn about and adopt new policies. Student volunteers will research and write out additional policy solutions to grow the Ideas Bank, with focus on expanding sections relating to sustainable energy and social equity. If you are interested in sustainability and mitigating the impacts of climate change, please come volunteer with SSMC! You will be part of a small team of Stanford students working together to contribute to the Ideas Bank!

There will be two teams partnering with SSMC, led by two student organizations:
Students in Government (SIG)'s Community Service Committee is organizing a team focused on sustainable energy policy
Students for a Sustainable Stanford's Environmental Justice Project Team is forming a team focused on social equity policies.

This effort is part of the Partnerships for Climate Justice in the Bay Area initiative (PCJ in the Bay) recently launched by the Haas Center for Public Service.

TIME COMMITMENT: 3 hours per week on average
Quarter long commitment expected, but volunteers are encouraged to extend engagement over academic year - if interested in making a Cardinal Commitment (a commitment to service throughout the academic year), reach out to SIG Contact (evianj@stanford.edu) and Cardinal Commitment coordinator Pete Cerneka (pete.cerneka@stanford.edu)
