VOE Requests

To request a VOE please fill out this form.

VOEs are only valid for 30 days from the date of the VOE is issued.  Please do not request a VOE if the student's appointment is more than 30 days from the request.

The AISD Attendance Policy is in accordance with the Texas Education Code 25.092. This code reads "... any grade level from kindergarten through grade 12 may not be given credit or a final grade for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered."

When a student's absence drops below 90% but remains at least 75% of the days the class is offered, the student will earn credit for the class. Students can receive credit for attending Credit Recovery. Because the number of days a specific course is offered varies, it is not possible to give an exact number of what 90% attendance looks like (due to holidays, semesters, etc.). For example, four or five absences could fall below 90%. Questions about Credit Recovery should be directed to your student's assistant principal.

The following codes are used in the 90% calculation:

  • HSS - Home School Suspension
  • ILP - Illness with a parent/guardian, note is to be turned in within 48 hours of returning.
  • UNX - Unexcused Absence: Family trips, travel, transportation, non-school sponsored events, early check-out
  • IM - Immunizations Non-Compliant

All VOEs will be submitted back to you via email in 7 business days.
