Team 2481 is a FIRST Robotics team out of Tremont, IL that competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition (www.firstinspires.org). We are a community-based team and accept public, private, and home school students. Students will work with engineers and professionals from local companies and businesses to design and build a 125 lb. robot to compete in competition as well as will develop award submissions and lead outreach activities for our local communities. We have activities and meet year-round; however, the build-season starts in early January and goes until our first competition in March. During this time, students are required to put in 8+ hours a week. The team travels during the competition season, which is March through April (depending on the events the team signs up for and how far we advance). During competition season, students are expected to continue being active members on the team, attend competitions, and attend meetings.
The deadline to submit this application is Wednesday, May 31st. Exemptions may be made for applying after this date (ie. student is not from Tremont/was unaware of application, student was undecided on what high school schedule would be, etc). Students will be notified after this date about their acceptance to the team. If you apply after May 31st, we will reach out to you about acceptance after receiving your application.
Some student expectations include:
- High school age
- Adhere to the Roboteers Team 2481 Handbook
- Put in a minimum of 8 hours per week from kickoff to the end of our competition season
- Set up an account on team forum and check it regularly
- Attend outreach events
- Be involved in fundraising events
- Register with FIRST online
- Attend mandatory meetings
Registration Fee
- $250 per student
- Due date: June 12th or first event following acceptance to the team (once accepted to team, students can bring to the next robotics event they attend, turkey festival food line, or can mail it/drop off to Vanessa at 516 N West St, Tremont, IL 61568)
- Team registration refund schedule: 100% refundable through September 1st, 50% refundable through October 31st, 0% refundable after October 31st

There will be prospective student Open Houses at the robot shop on Saturday, May 13th from 11:00am - 1:00pm and Thursday, May 25th from 6:30-8:00pm for any students with their parent/guardian(s) wanting more information.
In addition to this application, all NEW students who do not attend the Open House will need to attend a new student orientation with a parent/guardian on June 6th at 6:30pm in the robotics shop. If you cannot make this date, we will reach out to you about scheduling another time to meet.
Safety training for all students will be Monday, June 19th at 6:00pm in the shop for any who can attend. We will have subsequent trainings for those unable to come that night.
*To get to the shop, enter through the junior high school entrance. Drive past the junior high, and you will see our building on the right.
