Following the ratification of the collective bargaining agreements covering graduate student researchers (SRs) and academic student employees (ASEs), all SRs and all first-time ASEs are required to attend an Employee Orientation with representatives from UAW 2865, the union of SRs and ASEs at UC. At this orientation, union leaders will familiarize you with your rights, protections, and benefits under the UC-UAW 2865 Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Please fill out this form to register for a mandatory Student Researcher or Academic Student Employee Orientation. Orientations will take place in Engineering Sciences Building room 1001 from 1PM-5PM Tuesday, May 16 and 10AM-2PM Thursday, May 18. You can attend any of the orientations, but you are strongly recommended to attend the orientation most applicable to your department and/or job title. You will receive a calendar invitation and an email confirming the details of your orientation. If you are unable to make any of the scheduled orientation times, please indicate on this form that you require alternative arrangements.
According to the UC-UAW 2865 Collective Bargaining Agreements, all job-related trainings, including this orientation, count as paid time. If you fill out a timesheet, log 30 minutes for the orientation. Please contact santabarbara@uaw2865.org if you have any questions.
