Alton Climate Action Network is a rapidly-expanding community network organisation with ambitious goals and an increasingly high profile in the local community. As the climate emergency grows ever more serious we need to involve more people actively in our work.

There is a huge range of opportunities for volunteering within ACAN in terms of interests and time you can spare. Please select any areas of interest from the list below and then let us know how much time you can commit and we will ensure the relevant group leader gets back to you.

We are immensely grateful for all the time and effort our volunteers put in on our various projects. We could not do any of it without them.

ACAN needs a Bookkeeper / Treasurer - these can be combined or separate roles

Join our new group raising awareness of the impact of our food choices on the environment and emissions

Alton Community Cupboard needs volunteers especially with admin experience

Join ACAN's lobbying group to challenge government at all levels on environmental issues

Energy Alton - become an Energy Champion and give energy advice. No experience needed, just an interest in home energy - training provided.

Alton Community Share needs people to meet, greet & log items issued and returned - on 2nd & 4th Sat mornings in the month

Join the Eco-Streets project in Hopfields and Ackender Hill estates working with individual households at street level

AVLAN (Alton & Villages Local Action for Nature) join a working party on any of our verge plots

AVLAN needs help with new projects (verge mowing, rewilding, planting hedges and trees etc.)

ALFI (Alton Local Food Initiative) needs people to join teams for weeding, watering & general gardening on its plots around town (no experience necessary)

Alton Repair Cafe always needs repairers. Are you able to repair electrical goods, bikes, textiles, mechanical items, ornaments, small furniture items etc?

Action on Plastics and Waste - join the team sorting items from the terracycle bins

Join Cycle Alton in campaigning for active travel and improving cycling infrastructure

Fundraising - both researching and filling out application forms

General admin and/or composing newsletters
