Non-confidential paragraph / description.

The information you provide in Question 1 should clearly articulate your technology or application, being mindful that this text may be used in non-confidential and public facing platforms (e.g. on the Event or 2050 Innovation Hub website or for marketing purposes).

Supporting materials.

In section 2 of this document, after Question 8, we invite you to provide any additional information or supporting documentation which may help support your application. This could include CAD and technical illustrations, photography of the technology in development or being used.

The importance of good quality images cannot be understated – they help the shortlisting team to quickly appreciate your technologies and put the written information into context.

Should your additional files be too large to send in an email, we suggest compressing into a .ZIP file and sending via www.wetransfer.com or similar online file transfer system to innovationhub@portoftyne.co.uk.

Please state clearly your name, your organisation and your project title.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

1. General

1.1. The programme will take place at our Tyne Dock site, at the 2050 Innovation Hub building. We anticipate that the programme's agenda will require 8.5 days of commitment over a 5 month period (dates to be confirmed).Tyne Dock is a security controlled site and you agree to register with our security office, and to abide by all health and safety and security rules whilst on site, and any reasonable instructions that our staff might give you.

1.2. The programme will include photography and videos, and you consent to us and our partners in the Innovation Hub using and publishing those images and videos, in which you might feature, for the purposes of promoting and documenting the Event and the Innovation Hub more generally.

2. Nature of the Programme

2.1. The programme is an opportunity for your business to receive expert learning and mentoring on how to develop your ideas to a point where they are ready to be pitched to panel of investors. We will try to cover in detail the following themes: Theme 1. Introduction to the maritime industry, sustainability challenges in maritime, investor perspectives. Theme 2: Defining your customers’ problem, creating a compelling value proposition, demonstrating sustainability. Theme 3: Sustainable business model criteria, sustainable business model design, evidencing your sustainable business model. Theme 4: Investor requirements, pitch and Q&A preparation, business planning. Theme 5: Business plan submission, pitches, investor feedback and decisions.

2.2. If the panel of investors feel your business is particularly interesting and has potential practical application, investment in some capacity may be offered. The Port of Tyne makes no guarantee that investment will be offered as a consequence of the programme if the quality of submissions does in their view merit it.

2.3. Any investment offered by the panel of investors will be offered strictly subject to the condition that the parties enter into a legally binding investment agreement on terms acceptable to the funding party after the programme. That agreement will place reasonable conditions on how the investment funds may be utilised and how the applicant will engage with the funding party in relation to the project.

3. Confidentiality

3.1. We will treat all information given in the application form as non-confidential information unless stated otherwise. Please ensure that you are happy for this information to be reproduced. We will have the right to publish all information publically (and without your further consent) unless you clearly mark such information as confidential.

3.2. The programme will be open to the public and will be live-streamed. Please bear in mind that some forms of formal intellectual property protection (for example patents) require that the idea in question is kept secret. Therefore, revealing key aspects of your idea in a public forum like the programme may mean your idea becomes ineligible for such protection (if it was to start with). If this is a concern to you, you should take independent legal advice before participating in the programme.

3.3. Please also bear in mind that, although we will agree to a duty of confidentiality (as set out in this clause) in relation to confidential information in your application, the other programme attendees will not have done so.

3.4. We will assess your idea at the programme based on that information which you are willing to make public at the programme. The confidential elements of the application form will be discounted for the purposes of the programme, given that not all programme participants will be aware of it.

3.5. The Port of Tyne agrees to use its reasonable endeavours to keep confidential any information in your form which is marked as "CONFIDENTIAL – DO NOT REPRODUCE WITHOUT PERMISSION".

4. Protection of your privacy, information and data.

4.1. The information you provide in relation to the programme, including in the application form, will be reviewed and assessed by members of staff from the Port of Tyne’s Innovation and Technology team (managed by Ian Blake).

4.2. Where appropriate, we may also share your organisation’s details and any non-confidential information and/or images with our marketing and communications providers for the purposes of promoting the Venture Connect Green Investment Programme, the 2050 Innovation Hub Programme and/or your project:

4.3. Your application will be stored securely on our internal systems and updated throughout the application process in regard to comments from the shortlisting team, or any updates you may wish to make as a result of feedback.

4.4. We will add your name and contact email to our email marketing / communication account so that we may keep you informed of latest news, events and new challenges. Should you wish these details to be removed, please inform us as soon as possible and we shall oblige.

4.5. We will be the controller of any personal data which is included in your application form, and you must make sure that you have the appropriate authority and consent from each relevant data subject to share that data with us.
