Urgent Action Needed! Tell NY Leaders: Fully-Fund Healthy School Meals for All NY Kids in the Final State Budget

Negotiations around this year’s state budget are still ongoing! We’ve done a lot of great work to make Healthy School Meals for All a top priority, but we need to keep the pressure on to make sure our leaders in Albany fully fund this critical policy!

Legislators respond to the people they represent. We need you to call Governor Hochul and your representatives in the Senate and Assembly to tell them: Full funding for universal school meals must be included in the final state budget.

Below are instructions on how to call the Governor and your representatives, as well as scripts you can use to express your support for Healthy School Meals for All.

Hello! My name is [YOUR NAME]. I live in [MUNICIPALITY WHERE YOU LIVE]. 

I am calling to express my strong support for Healthy School Meals for All NY Kids, and to urge the Governor to fully fund this common-sense policy in the final state budget. 

Last year, New York dramatically expanded access to free school meals, but this funding did not cover all schools. More than 320,000 students across nearly 660 schools remain without access to universal school  meals.

New York must close this gap.  

Ensuring every student has access to healthy meals at school would reduce food insecurity, support learning, and keep our kids healthy. It would also deliver much-needed relief to struggling families.

Governor Hochul, I am urging you to fully fund Healthy School Meals for All this year. New York students and their families cannot afford to wait.
