To help understand Character versus Character in Middlehaven, read the scenarios below and answer the questions. At the end of the Assessment, you will be asked to digitally sign and agree to follow the Middlehaven CvC Policy.

It Depends. If I do not want to give Implied Consent, my Character can subdue the assassin and hand them over to the town guard for trial. If my Character kills the assassin, the death counts AND I have given implied consent (Green) for further CvC.

In a plot my Character is mind controlled by an NPC to kill another Character. How does this work?

I ask the other Character for consent in advance. Everyone involved is consenting to cvc otherwise the plot is cancelled. Any deaths that occur will count

Implied consent for everyone involved, none of the deaths will count

I do not need to ask for consent and if my Character kills the target, the death counts. If my Character is killed in the attempt, I inform the avatar of Death of what happened and the death does not count against me.

Red, this is plot related and your Character is not implying any CvC consent.

Yellow, your Character consents to CvC as a threat to fellow player Characters. However, your Character can inform the avatar of Death so their own death count does not go up.

Green, your Character consents to any/and all CvC. For that Character, as an antagonist you are encouraged to change them to an NPC (part of the crew that challenges the heroes of the town).

You role-play your Character in game, openly admitting to being a necromancer or heretic (a criminal). What level of implied consent to CvC was given?

Yellow, I am agreeing to the consequences of CvC conflict but only in a limited capacity. “Vishar vs Vishar” rule will apply and the character will not have a death added to their character. Because my Character is breaking the law in game, other Characters may arrest them.

Green, I said I was a necromancer/heretic, anyone can kill my Character!

True or False: Once I give consent to CvC green, I cannot change my consent until the next event.

True, for consistency, CvC consent locks in for each event at check in. Otherwise there is no possible way to enforce CvC.

False, CvC is assumed to be Red as the default if someone does not know. Even when I give consent, I can change my mind for the next interaction/scene and I am free to communicate/re-negotiate so that I am comfortable as a Player.

What should I do if I have concerns about a CvC violation (Choose all that apply):

Ask the Player if I can "speak with them Frankly," then try to work out the details of the CvC level that works for both of us.

Use "OK check in" and signal with a thumbs down to end the scene.

Stay in game and avoid breaking immersion. Use colors in the dialogue with the character to set the CvC level. For example, "I am not a YELLOW coward! My honor demands satisfaction. I challenge you to duel!"

Speak with a Player Advocate or a Staff Member.

Speak with the Event Coordinator.
