Entry Fee

$25 Primary, $30 Pre-Primer, $35 Premier (Fee includes $2 for SE FUSTA). Once your entry form has been submitted, you will receive an email with a link and access code to pay online with a credit card through the SMSFG's online ticketing site.

Rules Governing Competition

  1. The competition is run and conducted according to RSOBHD rules.  

  2. First to enter, last to dance.  

  3. All judge’s decisions are final. 

  4. In the event of a protest, a fee of $25 must accompany the written complaint. The fee will be returned if the protest is upheld.  

  5. All dancers must report when called or will forfeit entry in that event.  

  6. Dancers must show their 2024 registration card or may not compete. Photocopies or photographs are not permitted.  

  7. Age is computed as of date of competition. Proof of age must be provided if requested. 

  8. Trophies will be awarded in each category (except Primary) and will be based on overall aggregate points. Medals will be awarded in all Pre-Premier categories. Cash prizes will be awarded for Premier categories. Dancers must be in costume to receive awards.  

  9. Age groups will be determined by organizer based on entries received.  

  10. Depending upon the number of entries received, the organizer reserves the right to change the schedule (with prior notice), combine or split age groups.  

  11. Event held rain or shine. 

  12. No Field entries accepted; NO REFUNDS. All fees must be in US currency.  

  13. It is the dancer’s responsibility to abide by the Three-Month Rule (may not have taken any classes, Skype lessons, workshops, etc. with the judge for the event).  

  14. Most Promising Beginner award will be presented and is the judge’s decision.  

  15. Dancer-of-the-Day Award: All Premier dancers receiving a first place award in any dance may compete in a 4-step Fling to determine the winner of the Dancer of the Day award. The dance off will occur following the award presentation. The Dancer of the Day will be awarded immediately following the dance off.  

  16. Novice Trophy Fling: The Novice Trophy Fling is a separate event and open to Novice dancers of all ages. The Novice Trophy Fling will occur at the conclusion of the regular competition’s dancing, just prior to awards. The Novice Trophy Fling will NOT count toward the aggregate points for group trophy, but a dancer may earn a stamp for this dance. 

  17. Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge: The Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge is a separate event and open to Intermediate dancers of all ages. the Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge will occur at the conclusion of the regular competition's dancing after the Novice Trophy Fling, just prior to awards. The Intermediate Hornpipe Challenge will not count toward the aggregate points for the group trophy, but a dancer may earn stamps for this dance.

  18. Dancer-of-the-Day Award: All Premier dancers receiving a first place award in any dance may compete in a 4-step Fling to determine the winner of the Dancer of the Day award. The dance off will occur following the award presentation. The Dancer of the Day will be awarded immediately following the dance off.

By signing herein, the Participants voluntarily releases., waives and relinquishes any and current or future claims against Games, the City of Townsend, Blount County Partnership, Blount County or the Smoky Mountain Festival and Games for personal injury, property damage or wrongful death occurring to the Participant(s) arising out of participation in the Games, and agrees to indemnify and save harmless the Games, City of Townsend, Blount County Partnership, Blount County or the Smoky Mountain Festival and Games from any claim against it for personal injury, property damage or wrongful death to the Participants, to the extent allowed by law. 

I also permit the Games or its sponsors to use my name or photograph of me or my organization participating in the Games for future promotional or publicity purposes, without obligation to me or my organization.
